RAPP 'gives a grad a go' after BBC Breakfast interview
3 Nov 2011: RAPP CEO Marco Scognamiglio got more than he expected from his morning work-out as, while pounding the treadmill, he spotted graduate Edward Sharpley interviewed on the BBC's flagship morning show, ‘Breakfast’. Sharpley had been put forward for the interview by recruitment agency Give a Grad a Go and was talking about how difficult it is for graduates entering the job market.
Scognamiglio was so impressed by his performance that he contacted the BBC there and then and offered Sharpley a place as Junior Account Executive at RAPP as part of the company’s graduate placement programme.
Sharpley, who graduated from Edinburgh in 2010 with a degree in Geography, was delighted with the offer, which was confirmed this week after a successful trial period working in the agency’s client services team. “Like many grads, I missed out on the milk-round experience and found myself working in hotels and restaurants after finishing my degree,” he said. “This is a fantastic opportunity to build a career working in one of the UK’s top integrated agencies. I’m very grateful to RAPP and I’m thoroughly enjoying my new role.”
Scognamiglio said: “I watched this bright, articulate young man talking about his struggle to find work in the beleaguered graduate job market and thought ‘We’ll have him!’ This is what RAPP’s graduate recruitment is all about: creating opportunities for fresh young talent, and reaping the benefits for the agency and our clients.
